Purpose

The purpose of the Transportation Assistance Program (“Program”) is to provide limited financial assistance to offset the transportation costs (“Assistance”) of adult enrolled Tribal Members traveling to attend General Council meetings, as may be approved by Tribal Council.

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe has established the following criteria with the intent to ensure the Transportation Assistance Program functions in accordance with the Tribal General Welfare Policy.

Program benefits are subject to change at any time based on the availability of funds, as may be determined by resolution of the Tribal Council of the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe.

Please note: applications must be received at least 5 business days in advance to receive assistance; otherwise, your TCR benefit can be used.

Eligibility

Adult enrolled Snoqualmie Tribal Members who meet the requirements of the Transportation Assistance Program Policy (“Policy”) and request assistance for, and attend, a General Council meeting are eligible to receive Assistance.

Funding

• Mileage is based on the most direct, efficient one-way travel distance between the Tribal Member’s home address on file and the Tribal Event location.
• Mileage may be rounded up to the next whole number.
• Tribal Council has approved a flat rate amount based on mileage ranges for this meeting.
• Mileage funding is capped at 500 miles.

The following table shows the applicable reimbursement rates for FY26 of $0.72/mi, as published by GSA. (Rates may be updated annually dependent on GSA rate changes.)

Limits on Distribution

• Per policy, no reimbursements will be distributed. A member that elects to use their TCR benefit to cover travel for expenses associated with this meeting cannot apply for Transportation Assistance.
• Adult Tribal Members who elect to use their Traditional Cultural and Recreation (TCR) benefit to pay for travel for themselves for the same Event. An Adult Tribal Member may elect to use Transportation Assistance benefits for their own travel expenses while simultaneously using TCR benefits on behalf of an enrolled Minor in their care, provided the minor and the expense meet all criteria outlined in the Traditional Culture and Recreation Policy.
• Adult Tribal Members who elect not to use the TA for the purposes of their own travel for the September Meeting can request reimbursement using TCR for airfare/train/rental car costs.
• For Minor Tribal Members who are age-eligible, a parent/guardian applicant can utilize TCR to cover the cost of the minor’s airfare/train/bus ticket. The ticket must be issued in the minor’s name, and funding is only eligible as reimbursement.
• The Tribal Member receiving Assistance must personally sign in at the meeting. Department will verify attendance post meeting with the Tribal Secretary failure to attend will require a repayment of funds failure to do so will result in a 1099-MISC form issuance.
• The purpose of this Assistance is to assist with the cost of transportation to the General Council Meetings.
